Mid-Century Ranch Front + Backyard Landscape - Fox Point, WI

The landscape surrounding this mid‑century ranch in Fox Point, Wisconsin was ready for a fresh vision. Our clients asked us to redesign the entire property, with their top priority being a larger and more functional patio space. During the conceptual design phase, we also proposed a new front walkway to create a more cohesive look from front to back.

To add visual depth to the long, low façade, we introduced a subtle angled theme throughout both the hardscaping and planting beds. The new concrete front walkway features an inviting outdoor foyer in Lannon stone near the driveway, creating a more welcoming approach to the home. An expanded Lannon stone landing at the front porch improves circulation and ties the entry together.

At the clients’ request, the planting palette focuses on layered shades of green and varied textures, accented with soft pops of perennial color. Linear groupings of shrubs and ornamental grasses reinforce the home’s mid‑century lines. A stepping‑stone path links the front yard to the new backyard patio.

The redesigned concrete patio is 30% larger than the original and includes a Lannon stone firepit area for gathering. New plantings around the patio and along the back of the house echo the front‑yard palette for a unified look. The backyard plan also accommodates a future shed and incorporates privacy plantings along the rear lot line. Low‑voltage landscape lighting completes the transformation and extends enjoyment into the evening.
