Our client in Madison, Wisconsin was in the midst of a full floor‑to‑ceiling remodel of her mid‑century ranch home when she reached out to us. She wanted the front landscape to feel just as fresh and revitalized as the interior.
We designed a landscape that blends mid‑century modern and Asian influences, creating a cohesive aesthetic that complements the architecture. The project features a new front walkway in full‑range patterned bluestone, along with entirely new plantings to frame the entry.
A Buddha statue—an important personal piece for our client—became a focal point near the front door. We created a dedicated setting for it, surrounded by a mosaic of succulent groundcovers that evoke the California landscapes she once called home.
Rows of ornamental grasses intersect the walkway and align with the home’s narrow vertical windows, reinforcing the clean, linear geometry of the façade. New ornamental trees, including a Japanese maple and a redbud, add structure and seasonal interest. Low‑voltage landscape lighting completes the design, highlighting key features and extending the space’s beauty into the evening.
