Transitional New Home Landscape - Mequon, WI

After our clients built their new home in Mequon, Wisconsin, they engaged us for a full landscape design for the entire property. The comprehensive plan included hardscaping, plantings, and low-voltage landscape lighting. To complement the home’s French country-style architecture, we selected full-range bluestone combined with Lannon stone cobbles for all paved areas.

The plant palette was designed to provide year-round interest suitable for Wisconsin’s climate. Long-blooming perennials, ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, and low-maintenance evergreens were repeated throughout the beds for continuous bloom and seasonal color.

In the backyard, a patio wraps across the rear of the home, creating separate zones for grilling, dining, and lounging. Like the front, it is paved with patterned full-range bluestone and tumbled Lannon stone borders. The patio is centered on the home’s screened room, with a square stepper path leading to a circular fire pit patio. The irregular bluestone pattern contrasts with the tumbled stone, while Lannon outcropping stone forms a retaining wall for the hillside-cut patio. The custom-cut Lannon fire pit is the focal point, and privacy plantings along the perimeter, combined with low-voltage landscape lighting, complete the design.
