Asian Inspired Landscape - New Berlin, WI

This landscape transformation replaces a generic yard with a clean, modern design inspired by Asian garden principles. Concrete panel walkways, sculptural plant beds, and a slate‑chip rock garden create a serene, contemporary environment, while new plantings and thoughtfully integrated hardscape elements bring cohesion to both the front and back yards.

Our clients wanted to replace their existing, generic landscape with something more modern and reflective of Asian garden aesthetics. The redesign began at the front of the home, where a new walkway composed of concrete panels leads to a stamped and colored concrete seating area. This strong geometric foundation sets the tone for the rest of the landscape. An existing magnolia—an important feature to the clients—was preserved, while all other front‑yard plantings were replaced with a fresh, contemporary palette.

In the backyard, the design draws inspiration from the new half‑circle concrete patio. Circular planting beds echo its form, creating a sense of rhythm and visual harmony. A slate chip rock garden adds texture and a subtle nod to traditional Asian garden elements, while bands of groundcover soften the hardscape and introduce natural movement.

A new stamped and colored concrete pad was created as a dedicated space for the family’s hammock, surrounded by the rock garden and low plantings to enhance the sense of calm and retreat.

The result is a modern, cohesive landscape that blends clean lines with natural textures—an inviting outdoor environment shaped by Asian‑inspired simplicity and contemporary design.
