Traditional Backyard Landscape - Wauwatosa, WI

For this small backyard in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, our clients wanted additional entertaining space beyond their existing concrete patio. They liked the rustic feeling of flagstone as a paving choice so we designed a circular fire pit patio as the focal point of the backyard. Our client said they were ok with no lawn, so we designed all new plantings around a shade garden palette. Three serviceberry trees add a vertical element and add a sense of enclosure around the new fire pit area. Beach pebbles are inlaid between the flagstone pieces within the patio. Additional flagstone forms a path from the patio to the gate next to the garage. Low voltage landscape lighting completes the design with pathlights and uplights on the trees.
