Modern Landscape Makeover - Patio/Pergola - Fox Point, WI

This Fox Point residence features a sleek, modern interior, and the homeowners wanted their landscape to reflect that same contemporary character. The redesigned front and backyard spaces introduce clean lines, natural materials, and purposeful outdoor “rooms” that enhance both curb appeal and everyday living.

For the front yard, the primary design challenge was reducing the visual impact of a driveway that spans the width of the home. A new concrete front walk now guides guests directly to the entry while also creating a comfortable drop‑off zone. Adjacent to the walk, a bluestone pad was added to accommodate a future bench, offering a subtle moment for seating and architectural interest.

In the backyard, the existing patio lacked the space needed for entertaining. The new expanded concrete patio is organized into distinct functional zones for grilling, dining, and lounging. The dining area features bluestone paving beneath a custom cedar pergola equipped with integrated downlighting, creating an inviting atmosphere for evening gatherings. Although the overall plan includes a dedicated fire pit area, this element will be completed in a future phase.

Beach pebble runnels define transitions between outdoor rooms, while slate chip accents in select planting beds introduce a refined, Zen‑inspired touch. Low‑voltage lighting was thoughtfully designed throughout the property to highlight architectural features and extend usability after dark. A custom stone and cedar address marker at the driveway entrance provides a modern finishing detail that ties the entire design together.
