Modern Landscape Makeover - Patio/Pergola - Fox Point, WI

Our clients’ home in Fox Point, Wisconsin features a modern interior, and they asked us to create a landscape design that carried that same sensibility outdoors. In the front yard, the primary goal was to visually minimize the driveway that runs across the front of the home. A new concrete front walk now directs visitors to the entry while also creating a comfortable drop-off area from the driveway. A bluestone pad adjacent to the walk was incorporated as a future location for a bench.

The backyard design addressed an existing patio that was undersized for entertaining. A new, expanded concrete patio was designed with distinct areas for grilling, dining, and lounging. The dining area is paved in bluestone and shaded by a custom cedar pergola with integrated downlighting. The overall design included a fire pit area; however, this element was deferred during the first phase of construction.

Beach pebble runnels help define and visually separate the outdoor rooms of the patio, while slate chip accents within select planting beds introduce a subtle, Zen-inspired quality. Low-voltage landscape lighting was designed for the entire property, as shown in the evening photographs. A custom stone and cedar address marker at the end of the driveway completes the design.
