Modern New Home Landscape + Fire Feature - Mesa, AZ

This newly constructed home in Mesa, Arizona gave us a blank slate and the opportunity to design with an entirely new palette of plants. After researching species approved by the HOA and consulting with our clients, we selected a mix of native woody plants and succulents for the plans.

The front yard was designed with a minimalistic approach due to limited space, emphasizing open areas and clean lines while still incorporating thoughtful plantings.

The backyard was divided into three distinct zones. The foreground zone mirrors the front yard with more open space and fewer plants. The second zone wraps around the back and east sides of the property, featuring denser, lusher plantings to help screen the dominant concrete block privacy wall. The third zone required client buy-in: an enclosed area for a rescued desert tortoise. Our clients loved the idea and now have a home for one of the native, endangered reptiles.
