Transitional Landscape - Mequon, WI

2015 Silver Award for Excellence in Residential Landscape Design and Construction - Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association

The landscape renovation of this Mequon project entailed both the front and back yards. We replaced the existing straight planting bed that ran the length of the home with a bold curvilinear bed that draws the eye into the landscape from the front walk. Mixtures of deciduous and evergreen shrubs add structure to the front border, while ornamental grasses and long-blooming perennials provide balance. Irregular lannon stone steppers create a path connecting front yard to back. In the backyard, we designed an elegant patterned bluestone patio with a tumbled lannon cobble stone edge to replace the existing concrete pavers. As the patio is shaded by large mature trees, the planting beds around it are filled with shade-loving plants like Hosta, Actea, and Hydrangea. The layout of the new patio and its surrounding plant beds were designed to focus our client’s view toward the adjacent fairway of the North Shore Country Club. The patio provides our clients with an outdoor room from which they can enjoy nature and say hello to friends as they pass by on their way to the next green.
