Transforming a long, shallow backyard into a space with multiple outdoor rooms and a strong contemporary flair is what our client asked of us for this project. To take advantage of the narrow yard, we turned the grid of the layout at a 30 degree angle relative to the house. This gave the illusion of more depth and allowed us to create rooms that flow from one end of the property to the other. Multiple, low stucco-faced walls with colored concrete caps were offset to create visual interest, define the small spaces and provide addition seating. Natural bluestone paving was installed in a 24 inch grid pattern.
