The design goal for this project was to tie our client’s Craftsman-style home to the landscape, with a focus on low maintenance. To create a more interesting front walk, patterned flagstone was set in overlapping panels. Outlined with brick soldier courses, they interlace where the panels overlap. The existing rear patio had poor circulation, and the space needed more definition. The patio was expanded by designing a retaining wall with over-sized coping, allowing for deeper planting beds. An intricate pattern of brick frames the contrasting flagstone around the fire pit patio, enhancing the view from the deck above.
